The With Privacy

The With is a bar by Weylandts at 107 Castle Street, Cape Town. This page explains what happens to the name and email address you give us on the front page, in line with the Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA).

What we collect

Why we collect it

To email you about The With: when it opens, when booking opens, and what is on. You will also hear from Weylandts.

Who sees it

Weylandts and the team running The With. We use Mailchimp to store the list and send the mail, and Vercel to run the site. Both process the data on our instruction and nothing more. Meta receives a record of your visit and signup for advertising measurement, as explained below, but never your name or email address. We do not sell your details and we do not pass them to anyone else.

Booking

Bookings are taken by Dineplan, a South African reservations service. When you book, the details you give (your name, contact details, party size and any deposit) go to Dineplan and to us so we can hold your seat, and Dineplan handles them under its own privacy policy. We tell Dineplan which link or ad brought you to the site, and we tell Meta that a booking was started or made, never who made it.

Talk reservations

If you reserve a seat for the 22 October talk, your name, email address and number of seats go into a private Google Sheet that only the team can open, so we can hold your seat and check you in at the door. We email you a confirmation, and Google and our mail provider handle the data on our instruction. We keep it until the event is done and then delete it. If you tick the box, we also add you to the mailing list described above.

How long we keep it

Until you ask us to stop, or for two years after the last time you opened something from us, whichever comes first.

Leaving

Every email has an unsubscribe link and it works immediately. Write to us and we will remove you, show you what we hold, or fix it.

Measurement

We count visits and signups so we know whether the advertising worked. The site uses Meta's pixel, which tells Meta when someone visits and when someone signs up, so we can see which Facebook and Instagram ads bring people here. Meta may connect that to a Facebook or Instagram account under its own privacy policy. We never send Meta your name or email address. Your browser settings or an ad blocker can switch it off, and that does not stop you signing up.

Ask us anything

Email thewith@weylandtshome.co.za. If we get it wrong, the Information Regulator of South Africa will hear you out.
